 When I'm asked how many countries I have visited, I always answer according to the rules we have in "Travellers Guild". We recognize the number of independant countries as 194, it means the 192 memberstates of the UN plus The Vatican (which could be a member, but have chosen not to be) and Taiwan. It is also a demand to have stayed at least 24 successive hours, before a country can be recognized as visited. According to these rules I have been to 187 countries. What can be counted as a territory is not easy to define. On my list of visited territories I have mentioned places which we in "Travelleres Guild" have recognized as territories (but not as countries). All pictures used in my travelling pages are my own.
