Senegal 1996. Are you happy? One of the locals asked me, while we - after another puncture - walked the 5 kilometers to the nearest village. Happy? No, not exactly... I was on my way to Guinea Bissau, transported in an unbelievable wreck of a car (see the first picture).
In the village I had to wait for several hours, while the tube was being fixed, the car test-drived and the tube fixed once again...  At last I got on my way again together with three people from Franca. It should have been possible for us to reach the last ferry over the next river – if it was not because we just 10 km before reaching the bridge had another puncture…  After about one hour of waiting, another car passed by and took us up, so we could reach the river.  Actually there was a bridge – but.. (probably years back) it was broken... But it was still possible to pass, and after at least one hour of negotiation (with the police) we were allowed to pass the "wrecked" bridge by food and around midnight we reached the town of Ziguinchor. Next morning I could continue to the border...
But well...  It's Africa....    In Senegal I have stayed for about one week all in all..
