Martinique 2003: Saint Pierre. This town was completely destroyed by the eruption of the volcano Pelée in 1902. At that time the town had 30.000 inhabitants. One of the very few survivers was a prisoner who saved his life because he was kept behind thick walls! I stayed one week on this French island in the Caribbean.
