Macedonia 2000: Lake Ohrid. The first time I visited Macedonia was in 1983, when it was still a part of Yugoslavia. Next time I came by, the country had become independent. The area around Lake Ohrid (The deepest lake in Europe) are usually visited by many tourists, but because of the many problems which have occurred in the surrounding areas it was still - in year 2000 - mostly local people or UN-soldiers on vacation who visited this place.
